Who We Are

Backpacks From Heaven is a community-driven organization based in Winnipeg, created with one simple goal: to bring comfort, dignity, and practical support to people experiencing homelessness.

We collect essential items such as hygiene products, personal clothing, warm weather gear, non-perishable food, and basic shelter supplies. These items are carefully organized into backpacks that are easy to carry and designed to meet real, everyday needs.

Each backpack represents more than supplies — it represents care, respect, and the reminder that no one is invisible. Our work is made possible through the generosity of local donors, volunteers, and community partners who believe that small acts of kindness can make a meaningful difference.

Impact Stories

Destiny

Destiny was intelligent, confident, and full of potential. Like many others, she faced difficult struggles with mental health and substance use.

Though she passed away in November 2018, her story continues to inspire our mission — to offer care, dignity, and support to those navigating life’s hardest challenges.

Sean

Sean was known for his kindness, compassion, and willingness to help anyone who needed support. Despite his own battles with mental health and addiction, he carried a remarkable sense of empathy for others.

After Destiny’s passing, Sean was moved to take action. His vision became the foundation of this initiative, which continues today in his memory.
